Integrated Environmental Sciences with life sciences concentration

Kirsten graduated from Longwood University in 2021 with a B.S. in Integrated Environmental Sciences. She has conducted aquatic ecology research in freshwater, estuarine, and marine environments, focusing on a variety of topics ranging from deadzone formation to fisheries population dynamics. She has a strong interest in the intersection between anthropogenic influences and elasmobranch ecology and conservation. As a current post-baccalaureate student at the Duke University Marine Lab, her research involves investigating population dynamics and habitat usage of coastal sharks via drone surveillance. She plans to attend graduate school after her post-bacc to continue research involving elasmobranchs.
